Found a fluorescent lichen with my UV 365 nM flash light. This means that there is some kind of compound in the lichen that gets excited by the UV light. Specifically electrons in aromatic carbon rings (a ring of 6 carbons with 3 double bonds) get excited by the UV light, as these electrons come down in energy, the release a light at a different wave length.
